The budget of Pozuelo de Alarcón for 2027 amounts to €157.6 million, a 5% increase, with a reduction in IBI and more funding for security.

According to Telemadrid, the Local Government Board of Pozuelo de Alarcón has initially approved the municipal budget project for 2027, which amounts to €157.6 million. This is an increase of about €7.7 million compared to the current year, exceeding 5%.

The document must now go through the Plenary for final approval before the end of the year. According to the project report, the priorities are to reduce tax pressure, maintain investment, strengthen security and public spaces, and increase aid to families and local entities.

The main fiscal measure is the reduction of the Property Tax (IBI) to the minimum allowed by state regulations, along with the elimination of the vados fee. According to the local government, both will result in savings of up to €2.3 million for residents.

Additionally, IBI bonuses for properties with aerothermal energy are being expanded, as is already the case with solar panels. The 50% discount on the bill will extend from three to five years, counted from the date of the request by the interested party and not from the installation.

Investments increase by 1.7% to €21.2 million. This will be allocated to new neighbourhood courts, such as those on Avenida de Bularas or Calle Siroco, improving sports facilities, a new animal welfare centre, air conditioning for public schools, and renewing urban infrastructure.

The council claims it has completely eliminated its debt with banks and suppliers during this term. The investments and reductions will be financed with surpluses accumulated in recent years, not with bank loans.

In security, the budget increases by €3 million to €19.5 million. This includes 300 new cameras with an artificial intelligence-assisted system that, combined with the existing ones, will reach nearly 500 surveillance points by the end of 2027.

According to data from the Ministry of the Interior for the first half of this year, Pozuelo is the only municipality in Madrid with more than 20,000 inhabitants that has fewer than 15 total crimes per thousand residents. The conventional crime rate is 40.5 across the region and the country, four times higher than the 10.3 in the municipality.

Green areas, street cleaning, and waste collection receive €32 million, more than one-fifth of the total. Aid to groups and associations increases by 18%.

A period of 10 working days is now open for submitting amendments before the final vote in the Plenary.
