Madrid's Metro will reopen the Sol station only if analyses demonstrate that the facilities meet safety and health standards. The cleaning of the vents was completed at two in the morning on Saturday.

According to RTVE, Madrid's Metro will reopen the Sol station only if the analysis results confirm that the facilities meet the required safety and health conditions. The cleaning work on the vents was completed at two in the morning on Saturday.

The station is already in the second phase of the protocol, which includes ventilating the facilities, taking samples, and analysing them by an external laboratory, which will then need to deliver the results.

The station closed on Friday to clean the facilities due to the "unsanitary conditions" that, according to the Community of Madrid, are caused by the housing protest at Puerta del Sol, which has been ongoing for 21 days. The Cercanías station located in the same square remains open.

Metro cites a hygienic risk report that prohibits resuming service until there are "objective and documented guarantees" that safety and health conditions have been restored.

The laboratory has set the necessary actions and timelines, which start counting from the end of the cleaning and include ventilation, sampling, and analysis. Metro assures that it is working to reopen as soon as possible, although the reopening depends on the results confirming compliance with the requirements, with the protection of its workers as a priority.
