The storm Kristin left snow across almost the entire Community of Madrid, but wind and sun have largely erased it from the region. Los Molinos maintains a blanket of 15 centimetres at an altitude of 1,046 metres.
According to noticiasdelvino.com, the storm Kristin left snow in almost all of the Community of Madrid, although wind and sun have caused much of the blanket to disappear. In Los Molinos, a municipality located to the northwest of the capital, 15 centimetres of snow remains at an altitude of 1,046 metres.
The snow has been preserved thanks to precipitation on Friday and nighttime temperatures below 0 ºC. Being a less crowded destination than Navacerrada or Cercedilla, the snow does not turn to mud within hours.
From Madrid, it takes about 40 minutes by car via the A-6. By public transport, lines 684 and 688 depart from the Intercambiador de Moncloa and pass through Collado Villalba and Alpedrete before reaching the village, in under an hour. The C8b Cercanías line can also be taken, which departs from the Chamartín station.
In Los Molinos, there are nearly 20 restaurants, offering grilled meat, hearty dishes, Mexican and Asian cuisine. Local shops sell products for preparing a picnic in the snow.
The publication recommends the slope near the town centre for sledding.
