EMT Madrid and the Bobath Foundation have signed a two-year agreement, extendable, for people with cerebral palsy to use the bus independently and safely.
The EMT Madrid and the Bobath Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement for two years, which can be extended, to facilitate bus use for people with cerebral palsy. According to revistaviajeros.com, the agreement was signed by the delegate for Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility of the Madrid City Council and president of EMT Madrid, Borja Carabante, along with the CEO of the company, Alfonso Sánchez, and the managing director of the foundation, Antonio Eugercios.
The agreement aims for people with cerebral palsy to be able to travel to their medical appointments, therapies or training centres without relying on others. To this end, EMT Madrid commits to providing informational sessions, both theoretical and practical, at the foundation's own headquarters.
Additionally, the municipal company will offer personalised training within its “We Believe in Your Autonomy” programme. According to the information provided, these sessions combine a theoretical part with practical circuits, and users of the foundation have already received training.
EMT Madrid will also disseminate the awareness campaigns of the Bobath Foundation through its internal and external channels. Furthermore, it will cooperate in accessibility and universal design actions, encourage its staff to participate in volunteering linked to the entity, and take part in events, guided tours, round tables or workshops on accessibility for people with cerebral palsy.
The Bobath Foundation has been in Madrid since 1982 and works on the comprehensive treatment and education of these individuals throughout their lives, with an interdisciplinary approach focused on postural control, movement and function.
