Coslada's Local Police has intensified monitoring against the dumping and abandonment of waste in public spaces. Fines can reach 5,000 euros if the Circular Economy Law of the Community of Madrid is applied.
The Local Police of Coslada has stepped up surveillance to detect and penalise littering in public areas, a practice that affects the cleanliness of municipal spaces. According to the Coslada City Council, reports have been filed in several streets of the municipality.
On Venezuela Street, officers found construction materials used to reserve a parking space without authorisation, leading to a report against those responsible. Another report was filed on Honduras Street after identifying the person who dumped the waste.
On September 28, the Local Police became aware of the abandonment of furniture and belongings at the ecological island on Océano Pacífico Street. Thanks to citizen collaboration and the evidence gathered, a case was initiated against the responsible party, and the items were removed.
In another intervention on Coberteras Street, near the Municipal Clean Point, numerous refrigerators and other waste from a business activity were detected. The swift action of the police, along with the Environment department, allowed them to locate the responsible company, which immediately removed the items.
The Local Police reminds that the abandonment of waste without authorisation can lead to fines of up to 600 euros, according to the Municipal Ordinance for Environmental Protection. For more serious offences, the Law 1/2024 of Circular Economy of the Community of Madrid will apply, with fines of up to 5,000 euros.
Surveillance will be reinforced in various points of the municipality to combat these behaviours. Citizen collaboration is essential to identify those responsible and adopt the corresponding administrative measures.
