The Community of Madrid opens to the public a free exhibition featuring portraits of Spaniards and Hispanics who financed and fought in the American War of Independence. It can be visited at the Estufa Grande of the Quinta de Vista Alegre until November 6.

The Estufa Grande de la Quinta, in the estate of Vista Alegre, hosts from this month until November 6 the exhibition 'Spain and the Hispanics in the independence of the USA', a free display that brings together portraits of Spanish and Hispanic personalities who contributed to the independence of the United States. The initiative is part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of that process, which the regional Government celebrates within Hispanidad 2026, as reported by the regional Executive.

The exhibition, curated by José Manuel Guerrero Acosta, includes paintings and printed digital illustrations by Ricardo Sánchez, created as part of the 'Unveiling Memories' project by Iberdrola, according to infobae.com. The tour addresses the role of financing, supplies, and Spanish military operations in the American War of Independence.

The faces of the protagonists have been reproduced based on a documentation effort that takes into account age, clothing, existing images, and other researched and recreated details. Each portrait is accompanied by a small biography extracted from Spanish and American archives.

Among the figures represented are the former viceroy of New Spain Bernardo de Gálvez y Gallardo; the merchant and diplomat Diego María de Gardoqui y Arriquibar; the merchant Juan de Miralles Trayllón; and the military and politician Francisco de Saavedra Sangronís.

The exhibition also includes portraits of the marchioness Bárbara Beltrán de Santa Cruz; the military and writer Francisco de Miranda Rodríguez; Manuel Viamonte; the military Fernando de Leyba y Córdova; Miguel Lorenzo Yznardy, who defended Charleston; the sailor Jorge Farragut Mesquida; and the rancher Ana María Curbelo.

The exhibition can be visited for free at the Estufa Grande of the Quinta de Vista Alegre until November 6.
