The History Museum of Madrid showcases the winning works and 37 finalists from the VI Photography Contest in the Golden Courtyard, with free entry until February 28.

According to madridactual.es, the City Council of Madrid awarded the prizes for the VI Photography Contest at the History Museum of Madrid this Wednesday. The competition received over 1,200 images inspired by the relationship between urban heritage and the sky of the city.

The contest was titled From Madrid to the Sky and was supported by the Planetarium of Madrid. The guidelines asked participants to view the city from a perspective that, in the words of the call, "unites urban heritage with the firmament that covers it."

The winners are Antonio Farto Casado, with the photograph The Guardian of the Firmament in first place; José Luis Morcillo Amo, second prize with Sunset in Madrid, and Marcelino Díaz Zabala, third with Chariots in the Sky of Madrid.

The theme was inspired by the 40th anniversary of the Planetarium of Madrid and the interest generated by the total solar eclipse visible in August on the peninsula. The sky appears as the protagonist in all the winning works, alongside the urban landscape and everyday life.

The winning works and the other 37 finalist photographs are displayed in the Golden Courtyard of the History Museum of Madrid. The exhibition can be viewed for free until February 28, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 8 pm.
