Journalist and professor Francisco Marhuenda presents 'CENTRO', an exhibition of geometric abstraction at the ISDE Space in Madrid. It will be open until December 2026.
The ISDE Space, located at Serrano 208 in Madrid, now hosts the exhibition 'CENTRO', where journalist, professor, and academic Francisco Marhuenda showcases his side as a plastic artist. According to 20minutos, the exhibition will remain open until December 2026 and can be visited during the months of October, November, and December.
The works are created in acrylic and oil on canvas and feature concentric circles, angular lines, and chromatic contrasts. Marhuenda paints freehand, without masking tape or auxiliary guides, executing the strokes directly on the canvas.
I paint by hand because I seek both perfection and imperfection. From a distance, it looks perfect, but if you get closer, you see the imperfections of any human being when they paint," explains the author.
His method combines discipline and intuition, in his own words: "Geometry allows me to structure, but colour introduces emotion." The visual language of the series draws references from British vorticism, Soviet constructivism, cubism, and the Bauhaus, as well as the works of Kandinsky, Mondrian, Miró, and Modigliani.
The reduction of forms to their essential elements is the starting point of the series. From that simplification, Marhuenda constructs compositions where geometry takes on an almost architectural presence, while colour adds an emotional dimension.
The exhibition can be visited at the ISDE Space, located at Serrano 208 in Madrid, until December 2026.
