An Ecija workshop has embroidered two pieces for the exhibition "Fashion at Your Feet", a showcase of footwear inspired by historical costumes that can be seen until January 31.
Until January 31, the Museum of Costume in Madrid hosts the exhibition "Fashion at Your Feet", a journey through the history of dressing in Spain from the 18th century to the present day. According to ecijaweb.com, the project combines historical pieces with contemporary footwear.
Participating are 40 companies from the footwear sector and a dozen artisans and artists, including the Ecija native Jesús Rosado. From his workshop on Zamorano Street in Ecija, two pieces have been embroidered for display.
One of them is a French gown, for which the workshop has embroidered women's footwear in silk. For the shoes accompanying a men's French-style suit, the embroidery has been done in silver. Both works follow the style of the costumes with which they are exhibited.
Thanks to these pieces, the artisan has collaborated with Castañer for women's footwear and with Glent for men's. Rosado sums it up this way:
It is a great honour to collaborate with internationally renowned brands of Spanish origin and manufacture.
The project is driven by the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE), which organized a call and a creative competition to select the companies. The firms reinterpret representative pieces from the museum's collection, while the artisans contribute techniques in lace, embroidery, jewellery, silk flowers, leatherwork, and sculpture.
The exhibition can be visited at the Museum of Costume until January 31.
