CaixaForum Madrid brings together the works of the brothers Javier and Rafa Forteza in the exhibition ‘Unfounded Rumours’, as reported by alcabodelacalle.es. The free-access exhibition includes 26 paintings and sculptures where faces blur and forms transform.
The journey mixes pieces from both artists without separating them, allowing visitors to navigate a visual dialogue where it is often difficult to distinguish where one artist's work ends and the other's begins. Javier Forteza, a dermatologist by profession, particularly focuses on the face; Rafa Forteza, who left Architecture to dedicate himself to art, approaches a more abstract and symbolic universe.
The curator of the exhibition, David Barro, summarises the proposal with one idea: there is space here to “imagine abysses”. The title, ‘Unfounded Rumours’, invites visitors to leave behind prejudices and prior explanations to confront the works with their own initial gaze.
The brothers, who grew up in an artistic environment and lived together in Barcelona during their youth, humorously describe their creative bond as something almost “genetic”. The exhibition will be open in the capital until November 2, with free entry.
