The pharmaceutical group Salvat will concentrate the manufacturing of solids, liquids, and sterile liquids at its Alcalá de Henares plant, which it currently develops in Esplugues de Llobregat. The move will be gradual until 2030, and the company has not specified how many workers will be affected.
The pharmaceutical group Salvat has announced that it will progressively move the industrial production it maintains in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona) to its plant in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid). The company communicated the decision this Wednesday in a statement, as published by larazon.es.
The process will extend until 2030 and is part of the company's strategic plan for that date. Salvat has not specified how many employees will be affected by the move or the conditions that will be offered.
The corporate headquarters, central offices, and R&D activities of the group will remain in Esplugues. The company has initiated a geographical mobility process for positions in the operations area of that centre.
Salvat assures that it will address the process in a "responsible" manner and "maintaining dialogue with the legal representatives of the workers" during the various phases of the transition.
The consolidation of the industrial platform is part of the transformation that Salvat is driving to build a more agile, efficient, and competitive organization, equipped with the necessary capabilities to respond to the growing demands of the pharmaceutical industry," the group states.
The company will concentrate the manufacturing capabilities of solids, liquids, and sterile liquids at its industrial complex in Alcalá de Henares. Salvat considers this plant strategic and defines it as "the industrial hub" of the group for its next phase of growth.
The complex has a plant dedicated to non-sterile solids and liquids and a second one specialised in sterile liquids, with Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) technology and multi-dose formats. The latter is authorised by the US health agency FDA to supply the US market and has the capacity to produce more than 250 million vials annually.
The CEO of Grupo Farmacéutico Salvat, Jordi Muntañola, has stated that the consolidation of the Alcalá de Henares plant represents "a strategic decision for the future of Salvat and a decisive step in the execution of the Plan 2030."
