The Madrid Jarama-RACE Circuit will host the 39th FIA European Truck Grand Prix and the 8th Spanish Truck Racing Championship on October 3 and 4. According to a statement from the Community of Madrid, this event will close the FIA European Championship, which this year has become the first to use fuels from renewable sources, as reported by vivirediciones.es.
The European competition will feature 17 drivers from seven nationalities, while the national championship will have 12 competitors. Both events are included in the official calendars of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation and the International Automobile Federation.
The trucks competing at Jarama have engines with over 1,200 horsepower, weigh five tons, and reach a maximum regulated speed of 160 kilometres per hour. During the most demanding braking, the water-cooled discs generate columns of steam visible from the stands.
One of the unique features of the format is the inverted grid in the second race of each day: the top eight finishers swap their starting order, which encourages overtaking. Additionally, the Young Drivers Champions category, created in 2023 for drivers under 30, will be present over the weekend.
The event includes a parallel activities area for the public: fan zone, racing simulators, karting circuit, food trucks, official merchandise, remote-controlled car circuits, and scalextric, as well as the official presentation of the drivers.
The first to use fuels from renewable sources,” states the Community of Madrid about the championship.
