The 34-year-old right-back, without a team since June, signs for the blue club for this season and the next. He can only play in LaLiga as he did not arrive in time for the Conference League.
The Getafe has finalised the signing of Dani Carvajal for the remainder of the season and until June 2027. The blue club announced this Tuesday the incorporation of the 34-year-old right-back, who had been without a team since his time at Real Madrid ended last June.
Carvajal, who has represented Spain 51 times, joins the team on the outskirts of Madrid after having won everything with the white team: 27 titles, including six European Cups, make him the most decorated player in Real Madrid's history. The information, reported by andina.pe, details that the player had to significantly reduce his salary to sign with Getafe.
According to local newspapers, the defender will earn less than one million euros, compared to the ten million he was earning at Real Madrid. The blue club highlighted that Carvajal "will bring experience and leadership" to his new team.
Will bring experience and leadership
The signing did not arrive in time to be registered for the league phase of the Conference League, so Carvajal can only participate in this European competition if Getafe manages to progress to the next round. For now, his participation is limited to LaLiga.
The defender was trained in the Real Madrid academy and returned to the first team in 2013 after a season at Bayer Leverkusen. With the Spanish national team, he won the Euro 2024 and the 2023 Nations League.
Getafe has not specified when he will join training with the group or if he will be included in the squad for the next league match.
