The Official State Gazette (BOE) has confirmed that Monday, 12 October 2026 will be a holiday throughout Spain, including the Community of Madrid. The date, corresponding to the National Day of Spain, remains on its original day without any transfers, as reported by La Razón.
The 2026 work calendar includes this day among the non-replaceable national holidays. This means that autonomous communities cannot change it for another celebration, unlike what happens with 6 January or Holy Thursday, which do allow for substitution. As it falls on a Monday, the break will be uniformly applied across the 17 autonomous communities, Ceuta and Melilla.
For residents of Madrid, the bridge will extend from Saturday 10 to Monday 12 October, three consecutive days of rest. This is one of the four major traditional bridges in the Spanish calendar, alongside Good Friday, 1 May, and Christmas.
The Aemet indicates that the forecast for the week of 5 to 11 October still presents uncertainty, with the possibility of showers in the north, centre, and east of the peninsula. For 12 October itself, various forecasts suggest the possible arrival of a warmer air mass that would raise temperatures, especially in the east, while not ruling out cloudiness and localized storms in the west. The agency insists that these forecasts may change in upcoming updates.
