The municipalist formation unanimously ratifies its spokesperson and councillor for Culture as the head of the list for May 2027, with David López as number two.
Miriam Benítez will be the candidate of Ganar Alcorcón for the mayoralty in the municipal elections of May 2027. The assembly of the formation unanimously ratified her name as the head of the list, according to Cadena SER. The designation comes after the passing of Jesús Santos, the party's historical leader and a reference point for municipalism in the city.
Benítez, aged 30, is a resident of Alcorcón and has held the position of Councillor for Culture and spokesperson for Ganar Alcorcón since 2025. Her career in the project began with the Youth of Ganar Alcorcón, the initiative launched by Santos to incorporate new generations. She holds a degree in Economics and International Relations and has worked as an accounting and tax manager as well as a processing technician for files at Tragsa.
In the number two position on the candidacy will be David López, the current deputy mayor and councillor for the formation. Ganar Alcorcón thus combines the generational renewal of Benítez with the governmental experience of López in recent legislatures, as stated by the party.
The municipalist formation presents its project under the slogan “Proud of Alcorcón”. Its key points for 2027 are summarised in three concepts: “living here, working here and enjoying here,” the details of which will be developed in the coming weeks.
I am convinced that, to move forward, we need to renew our course. That’s why I am running for mayor in the municipal elections in May. And I do so with a very simple cause: so that we can live here, in Alcorcón.
The candidate has linked this goal to housing prices, work commutes, and access to leisure and social life in the city.
No one should have to spend half their salary on rent. No one should have to lose so many hours of life just to go to work. And no one should have to leave their neighbourhood to enjoy time with their family, friends, or whoever they want.
Ganar Alcorcón aims to continue the projects of the last two legislatures while also addressing actions that, according to the formation itself, have not met the expectations of part of the citizenry. The municipal elections are scheduled for May 2027.
