The Community of Madrid promotes the MentorActúa Bosques Vivos program for public educational centres to collaborate on fire prevention and recovery projects for burned areas, with special attention to the Sierra Oeste.
The Community of Madrid has launched the MentorActúa Bosques Vivos program, an initiative aimed at creating a collaboration network among public educational centres so that students can design and develop projects focused on the prevention of forest fires, the protection of forests, and the recovery of areas affected by fire, according to madridactual.es.
The plan will pay special attention to the municipalities of the Sierra Oeste that were affected by the fires last summer. The participating centres will work together and exchange experiences so that students understand the impact of fires, promote care for the natural environment, and participate in awareness and environmental recovery actions.
The program also aims to strengthen educational quality by creating a professional network based on the observation of best practices, mutual learning, and the transfer of methodologies that are already working in other centres.
In addition to Madrid schools, MentorActúa Bosques Vivos has the collaboration of centres from other autonomous communities such as Aragón, Castilla y León, Galicia, and Murcia. This inter-autonomous cooperation expands opportunities for teacher professional development and reinforces areas such as linguistic and multilingual communication, mathematical competence, and knowledge in science, technology, and engineering.
Interested centres can consult the program details through the usual channels of the Education Department of the Community of Madrid.
