The mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, avoids commenting on the reopening of the investigation into the deletion of emails from the former councillor who accused him of harassment and demands 'absolute respect' for judicial decisions.
The mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, has refrained from commenting on the reopening of the investigation into the deletion of emails from the former councillor who accused him of alleged harassment. He stated this Sunday that he does not evaluate that judicial decision and has called for 'letting the judiciary work.'
'Absolute respect, I insist, for judicial decisions,' Bautista declared, adding that he will not engage 'in further speculation.' The mayor clarified that he is not a party to this case and reminded that the case was already archived in the first instance, as reported by Europa Press.
The Provincial Court of Madrid has revoked the provisional dismissal agreed by the Investigation Court number 1 of Móstoles, considering the archive 'premature.' The Court has ordered new proceedings to clarify who may have accessed the former councillor's email and deleted messages and files.
Specifically, the Court has requested the Judicial Police to determine which person from the Agency for Digital Administration of the Community of Madrid was assigned the IP address 217.9.26.191 and to check the possible accesses made from it to the complainant's email. That person will have to testify as a suspect.
The investigation was initiated after the former councillor reported unauthorized access to her official email and the deletion of messages and files related to the alleged workplace harassment she had internally communicated to the PP. The Prosecutor's Office opposed the reopening, considering that there are not sufficient grounds to attribute the facts to a specific person, but the Court deemed it necessary to carry out new proceedings before deciding whether to maintain the dismissal.
This procedure is distinct from the case opened following the former councillor's complaint against Bautista for alleged crimes of sexual harassment, workplace harassment, injuries, coercion, revelation of secrets, and attack on moral integrity. In that case, the judge has summoned Bautista as the accused: his statement, initially scheduled for October 9, has been postponed to December 1 at the request of his defence.
