The Teatro Real's Principal Orchestra will perform on October 15 at Lincoln Center in New York and will debut on the 17th in Miami. The String Quartet will play on the 19th in Washington.

The Teatro Real has begun its fifth international tour in New York, according to Madrid Actual. The tour includes concerts by its Principal Orchestra, the debut of the coliseum at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, and a performance by its String Quartet at the Library of Congress in Washington.

The theatre's president, Gregorio Marañón, explained the international commitment as a matter of growth:

Our vocation for growth, to become once again this significant opera theatre in the absolute sense, required that there be no borders.

The tour resumes the artistic ties that the Teatro Real initiated in 2022, when it offered a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York as part of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the twinning between Madrid and New York. The general director, Ignacio García-Belenguer, noted that the tours aim to establish a permanent presence in the country and that dates for the next three years are already being studied.

The program 'Fire, Guitar, Legend' will be performed on October 15 in New York under the direction of Gustavo Gimeno, featuring Guatemalan soprano Adriana González and guitarist Juan Manuel Cañizares. On October 17, it will be repeated in Miami with Nicaraguan soprano Gabriella Reyes replacing González, and Cañizares will perform the Concierto de Aranjuez. The repertoire includes works by Manuel de Falla, Joaquín Rodrigo, and Nikolái Rimski-Kórsakov.

Cañizares has highlighted the relationship between symphonic music, guitar, and flamenco in his career:

Both flamenco and classical music have been two very important pillars in my life to build my own musical language.

The tour concludes on October 19 with the String Quartet of the Principal Orchestra at the Library of Congress in Washington, featuring works by Arriaga, Amy Beach, and Dvořák. The Crescendo program, aimed at young people, already opened the tour on October 14 at the University Club in New York.

While the orchestra travels, the artistic director, Joan Matabosch, has confirmed that the Teatro Real is rehearsing a new production of The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart in Madrid, co-produced with the Metropolitan Opera House.
