This figure places the municipality among the major business hubs in Spain, with economic activity far exceeding what its population would suggest. The city distributes this activity across six business parks and industrial estates, where large multinationals, SMEs, and specialised companies coexist.
The technology sector is one of the pillars of the local fabric. Alcobendas is home to companies such as Indra, Samsung, Cisco, and Canon, as well as companies linked to digital infrastructure and data centres.
The automotive industry is also present in the municipality, with firms like Renault, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Kia, Stellantis, and Astara. These companies generate both direct and indirect employment through suppliers, professional services, logistics, and maintenance.
The business landscape is completed by the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, where Pfizer, Lilly, Teva, and Italfarmaco operate. The latter announced an investment of €10 million in its Alcobendas plant for 2026, aimed at incorporating a new production line and improving industrial efficiency.
In the distribution sector, Carrefour and Leroy Merlin stand out, employing thousands of people in the locality.
